Catching Lightning Bugs

McKinley and I went on a lightning bug hunt tonight. We went to Aunt Holly and Uncle Scott's house because they have the perfect yard for hunting. Uncle Brian gave McKinley the greatest bug catcher that was a perfect home for our bugs. Here are some pictures of McKinley showing off his bugs...we caught 9 lighting bugs tonight. What a perfect summer night!
Here is McKinley with his girlfriends, Bonnie Kay (left) and Molly Margaret (right). A couple of weeks ago McKinley told me that he was going to marry Bon Bon and they were going to have a baby named Flickety Flack. Well tonight when we got home ,he informed me that he was going to marry both of them and have a Flickety Flack and a Clickety Clack.
Where does he come up with these things?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Hole in One

We went out for some "Family Fun" this morning. The bowling alley in town has just opened a brand new glow in the dark minigolf. It was really nice and we all had a really good time. Here are some pictures from our game. Watch out Tiger Woods!

Story Time

I just wanted to share these sweet pictures that I took tonight. We have been doing a lot of reading around our house this summer. McKinley joined the summer reading program "Catch the Reading Bug" at our local library. We have been going to the library once a week and checking out books. He really likes the library, especially the fish tank! Tonight he wanted to read his book in bed. When I went to check on him a few minutes later, this is how I found him. He fell asleep reading his Thomas book to all of his friends.

Waterslide Fun!

Today McKinley went over to his friend McKenna's house. They had a great time playing on her waterslide. This was the first time that I have ever left him at a friends house to play. I was a little nervous, but he really wanted to go over and play and could not wait to tell me bye and send me on my way. I let him stay for about an hour while I got some things done around the house. McKenna must have wore him out because he came home and took a 2 & 1/2 hour nap! Here are some pictures that I snapped before I went home.

As some grass grows...other is destroyed!!

It is a miracle.....look at our grass!! It's slowly, but surely growing! Now, the grass in the backyard is a different story. They came today to build our pool.

And, this is what is left at the end of the day. We are half done! The only bummer is that it has to sit like this for a few weeks to settle! What a lovely view!

The Oasis Contruction in Underway!

The pool people showed up this morning bright and early (6:45) to start digging for the pool. We had several trees that had to go.

We even found a slittering friend in the woods. It is hard to tell in the picture, but Andy is holding a dead black snake. The workers were scared of it, so Andy attacked it with the shovel. What a man.....my hero!

ZZ Top

Saturday night, a group of us went to see ZZ Top. We packed some good food and enjoyed a fun evening with friends! Allison and Brian

Holly and I really came to support The Zac Brown Band that opened for ZZ Top. We went to college with Zac and use to go see him every week play at the Taco Mac in Carrollton. (to all you fellow ZZ Toppers---check on the lady in the background--she was the cuplrit from the night- we should of known then that she would be trouble.)

Home Improvements Update

Here is an update to our home projects that we are working on.......everything is coming along well except for the pool....still no progress, but hopefully this week!

Project Kitchen- I scraped wallpapers forever. Finally I realized that this job was way to big for me, and that it would take me forever to complete by myself . I had to break down and hire some help! The walls were in such bad shape from the wallpaper, that they had to be patched and sanded.

Thank goodness for my friend Scott, who came over in the pouring rain to help hang my new light. (Scott- maybe next time I can offer you a better glass of sweet tea!)
