First Month Check-Up

Marley Ann went for her 1 month check up yesterday. She weighed in at 9 lbs 10 ozs. I thought that maybe she might have gained a pound, but could not believe that my little piggy had gained 2 1/2 pounds. The doctor was asking how she was eating and sleeping. I told him that she is wanting to eat every 2-3 hours and that we were no where close to getting any good rest at night. He told me to give the girl some cereal. He told me I could do this 1 of 2 ways....1- mix it in her bottle or 2- mix it in a bowl as thick as she could take it and feed her with a spoon. Well, we went with option 2! Here are some pictures of her first feeding. She loved it! We laid her down at 10:30 last night and she didn't wake up until after 4! We all got almost 6 hours of sleep, which was awesome!

I know that I have not posted in a while. Needless to say, things have been busy and hectic at the house. Here are a few pictures that I have taken in the past few days. I promise to post more of Marley Ann in the next few days. Since we do not have any small trees around our house, we had to improvise to make an Easter Egg Tree. McKinley and I had a great time hanging the eggs.

Andy got a gas mask at work. McKinley had the best time playing with it. I think that he should have to handle all the stinky diapers at our house!!!

Happy 4th Birthday McKinley!

It is hard to believe that McKinley is really 4! We celebrated his real birthday on Friday. Here are some pictures from our day.

McKinley got a trampoline for his birthday. He loves it and we are hoping that it helps him burn off some of his energy.

First Bath

Just a quick post before the "Princess" needs her bottle. Marley Ann's tummy was really upset today so I thought she really needed a good cleaning. McKinley and I decided to go ahead and give her a bath. (the hospital told me to wait until her cord fell off) We were really careful and tried to sponge her off and especially clean her bottom. McKinley was so excited about helping give her a bath. While I was getting her undressed and ready for her bath, I could hear something in the kitchen. McKinley was getting his chair pulled up to the counter and was getting some of his toys to share with Marley Ann...so sweet. He especially liked rubbing lotion on her. He is the best big brother and I know is going to be lots of help!

Here is a quick run down of the day. Andy and I arrived at the hospital at 7:30 Monday morning. We got settled in our room and then they started my IV of potosin. I was about 1-2 cm when we got to the hospital. Around 10:30, I was around a 3-4, the potocin was starting to kick in so they broke my water. I made it until maybe about noon and then I asked for my best friend......the anesthesoilogist. God bless the person who created the epidural! Then things were good. Andy and everybody went and had lunch. I looked at magazines and played a little Nintendo DS. Things were however moving very slowly. By about 2 oclock I was maybe a 4-5, we thought we were going to have a long afternoon night. Well, about 3:15, I was not happy! I hated everybody especially the cute anesthesoilogist and decided that having a baby was not fun anymore! What had happened was I had progressed to like a 7-8 really fast. The doctor said that sometimes when the baby moves down so quickly, it can sit on a nerve and block the epidural. My nurse quickly called for my ex-best friend (Mr. Anesthesoilogist) and we quickly made up, within a few seconds I was back in heaven. Within the next few minutes my midwife came in to check me. We were all thinking we still had a little time,but apparently Marley Ann could not wait anymore! I started pushing around 4:20 and she was here at 5:11. This delivery was 100% better than McKinley's. As a matter of fact, after what I went through with McKinley, I am surprised that there even was a Marley Ann! I had the option of a c-section with this preganany, but that scared the heck out of me. That is why the doctors induced me a week early. McKinley was not a big baby. He weighed 7lbs. 10 oz, but they were hoping that having her a little early would keep her small. Everything worked out better than I could have ever expected and she was worth all of it.

This woman is an angel! This is Heather and Marley Ann. Heather was my midwife. She was awesome and made this delivery so much easier than mine with McKinley.

(These 3 have literally seen the best and worst of me (especially when the epidural was not working! They made the long day fun and special. I am so glad that they could be there to share this special moment with me! Thanks Guys...love you lots!)

McKinley-O-Saurus

McKinley- O-Saurus is Turning 4!!!!

Today was McKinley's birthday party. This year he wanted a dinosaur party.


My friend Kathy made McKinley's cake this year. She did a wonderful job and it was very yummy!

Kathy brought the cake over in the morning, which meant we had to really keep an eye on McKinley all day. He kept going into the dining room and playing with all the dinosaurs. I did find one little fingerprint in the water....but I guess thats ok. It WAS his day!

Since we could not have dinosaurs at the party, we had LIVE reptiles instead. The reptile man (www.myreptileguys.com) cameand brought all kinds of animals. I am not a big fan of snakes and still cannot believe that I had so many of them in the house! McKinley on the other hand was not afraid at all. He was the reptile man's assistant. He could not wait to hold the snake.

The iguana was my favorite animal.

I was for sure that when he brought out this huge snake, it would send me right into labor.....no such luck though!After the show, everyone got a chance to hold and touch the animals.
